No Longer Defective and Powerless
1Cor. 15:42 “So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable” This literally means sown in corruption raised in incorruption. God’s voice shows us the meaning of the resurrection as we study scripture.
Col. 2:8 “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.”
How do we keep from being captive? We must abandon the philosophies of this world and the empty deceptions life taught us. Let’s look at tfour parts of this:
First it takes more than reading the word to know the word. Reading is important, but study is imperative. With the Blue Letter Bible on-line, it becomes easy to study. You can search a word or scripture by typing it in a field. For instance, I typed in resurrection and raise to find scriptures that directly talk about the resurrection. Colossians 2 is a go-to scripture for me about what we receive because of the resurrection. But if I did not already know this scripture, I could type in fulness or fulness of Christ or authority or any other words that represent His pre-incarnation or post resurrection state.
So, what we are doing in this post is studying what we receive because the Father resurrected Him. This is intimately tied to God’s voice because only His voice illuminates scripture. When we decide what it means without listening in the Secret Place life leaves us with empty deceptions and traditions of men.
This leads us to number two, listen in the Secret Place of His presence. This means listen in the Secret Place when we study, pray, worship, talk to others, work, play and anytime we breathe.
So how do we do this? By number 3 understand who you are in Him and whose you are.
We have received the life of God.
Rom. 5:10 “For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” 1John 5:12 “He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.” NASB
More than receiving the life of God, He defines this for us. In Christ is the fulness of Deity and He completes us He is the head over all authority.
Col 2:9 “For in Him all the fulness of Deity dwells in bodily form 10 and in Him you have been made
Since the word complete means He fills up our deficiency with His glory, power, authority and otherness, we have access to Him. This access is contingent on our allowing this transaction. So we can listen when we work, play, pray and anytime we breathe, but it takes practice. God translated only two people to heaven without tasting death, but still we should aspire to be people of the Voice, walking in resurrection power, speaking and moving at the impulse of His will. This will bring His will on earth “as it is in heaven”.
Jesus told us we would do greater works. This takes place when we walk with God’s voice like Adam and Eve.
Gen. 3:8 “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.” NIV
The word sound in the above passage means Spirit or voice. Adam and Eve gave up the speaking voice of God for knowledge that was too great for them to bear. The voice of God is part of the Covenant He established with us and is far more precious than the knowledge of good and evil. Knowledge brings about traditions of men and empty deception. Deception is like the veil we wear when we hide our faults and shame from God. We are to come to Him unveiled. We can trust Him for He knows us. It takes time for us to understand these things, but we must commit to them and He will bring us into them in time.
God undoes the results of the knowledge of good and evil through the covenant established in Christ’s blood. This covenant brings about an intimate relationship with God and His voice makes this possible.
How is it God
that the one who is complete
wants to complete me?
I have done nothing to deserve
Your regard.
I breathe, I exist
in man’s ways so often
I do not deserve You
to think about me
yet, You do.
Because of You
I reign.
I hear You.
You tell me to stand
in Your glory and power
and not regard the powers
of this earth or the adversary.
For I have all power
in You.
So, I lay my life
before You.
I lay my heart
on Your heart
and see within
Your desires
and rise up
to walk out Your will
in the earth.
This is possible because
I am Yours my Lover
and
Your desire is for me.
I learned your love as I studied
Your heart.
