About

A Bride who is making herself ready.

Debra

Where it Began

God in His great wisdom allowed me to go through about 20 years of wounding and then 20 years in the tomb. Forty years was my School of the Spirit.

After the wounding, did I have questions??? You bet I did. Because it was obvious I had it wrong. Who are you really? Why did you do what you did? What is the purpose of suffering? How can I know you intimately? Why did you allow what our family endured?

Searching for Answers

So, the Lord had me study Song of Songs to answer these questions. After gaining new understanding, I wrote Bridegroom’s Song, which is an exposition of Song of Songs.

Song of Songs and writing Bridegroom’s Song gave me a solid foundation for the rest of God’s unveiling of Himself. But He had more than a foundation for me. So, He had me put together a devotional titled, For the Bride. This was while I was processing who God really is and learning of His love for me. This book takes the reader on the journey of coming to know God. For the Bride is filled with pathos and love both ours and His. It takes you deep into His heart.

Something important to understand about God, Song of Songs is our Bridegroom’s wedding song over us. This makes Song of Songs very important in our understanding of who God is.

Healing is Ongoing

I wrote the next book Mystery Bride and Mystery Babylon while I was learning how to live and deal with the past in healthy ways. This book shows the reader the difference between the true bride and the false. I learned these truths during the wounding years. He calls us to get ready for Him, but we often are engaged in other pursuits. Mystery Bride and Mystery Babylon shows us the point of life and how to keep the main thing, the main thing. It shows us how to get ready for our Bridegroom. The day in which we live calls us to be wise about these truths.

He Alone is God

Now we come to the present day and my most recent books, From Shame’s Prison to Joy, book and workbook. Houston, we have a problem. We have a BIGGGGG problem. Adam and Eve fell, and in doing so they yielded dominion to Satan. So, Satan tempted them to believe that God was holding out on them. God told Adam and Eve not to eat of a certain tree in the Garden of Eden or they would die, but Satan said:

Gen 3:4 “The serpent said to the woman,’You surely will not die! 5 For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’”

Rebellion, Shame and Fear

Adam and Eve sinned in rebellion and sin has results. Shame and fear along with rebellion now became part of the human experience.

Gen. 3:7 “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.” (shame)

Gen. 3:8 “They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden 9 Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, ‘Where are you?” 10 He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” (fear)

Fear and Worship

Today shame and fear keep the Bride from her readiness for the Bridegroom. The fact is, fear and worship are the same word in Greek and Hebrew. This means that when we fear we worship the feared object or hold something besides God in reverence. We ascribe power to other things, power that belongs only to God. If we fear man or losing man’s approval, we worship man. The same is true if we fear poverty and move in greed, fear being shamed and move in self-preservation or self-protection, fear disorder in society and look to political systems and so on.

Escape from Shame’s Prison Brings Us Joy

He calls us to worship only One. But we are idolaters when we find Him. Only He can set us free. We must overcome the shame and fear that keep us from freedom. From Shame’s Prison to Joy shows the way out of fear and shame’s prison to the joy Jesus died to give us.

What I do today comes out of the first 40+ years of knowing Christ. I am called to help the Bride discover and live in the intimacy of relationship that Christ died to give her. Join me on the journey.
